Create a Calm Space: Set up a safe area with comforting items like books, blankets, or music to reduce anxiety.
Maintain Routine: Keep up with daily routines as much as possible to maintain a sense of control.
Stay Connected: Use the time to connect with family, share stories, or check in on neighbors.
Limit Information Overload: Stay informed, but avoid constant, repetitive exposure to distressing news.
During stormy weather...
Read or Play Games: Use books, board games, cards, or puzzles to stay entertained, especially during power outages.
Light Exercise/Relaxation: Practice yoga or stretching indoors to reduce tension.
Ensure you have a communication plan for emergencies, particularly if you rely on medical equipment that requires power.
