2019-2020 Clubs 

At Puʻu Kukui students are encouraged to join campus clubs. Our clubs encourage service learning, leadership, personal interests and performance. Here's the clubs that we are involved in this year.

Aloha Ambassadors - Grades K-5 - These student leaders represent the school by providing guided tours to visitors and helping keep our office tidy.  They will learn about the history of our geographical area and special features on our campus as well as improving public speaking skills and overall confidence.
Art Club - Grades K-5 - If you enjoy art and helping the school, then this is the club for you!  Art club members will create posters, fliers, decorations, backdrops and more for school activities and events...Don’t miss out!
Broadcast Service Club - Our broadcast club involves students in roles to support our daily morning broadcast:
  • broadcast - announcers, directors, control room, cameras
  • graphics (slides and photography)
  • video
Cheerleading - The PKES Cheerleaders' goal is to enhance school spirit and provide an opportunity for students to sharpen the saw through dance.  The cheerleaders support the 7 Habits by performing leadership themed cheers and promote a sense of school pride.
Choir - Grades K-5 - Calling all students who love to sing! PKES Choir is a group of student leaders who enjoy singing & performing for an audience.  Students will be responsible for performing at various school events throughout the year and inspiring others through their gift of song.
Cooking Club - Grades 4-5 - This brand new, student run club, will help students learn how to be leaders in the kitchen.  Food preparation, safety and of course some yummy food are in store!

Drama Club - Grades 3-5 - Do you love acting or want to learn more about backstage operations?  Then apply for this club and “Find your voice and help others find theirs.”  Students will have the chance to perform at assemblies, Leadership Day and more.  Come join the fun!
ELL Can-Do Club - Grades 3-5 (must be an ELL student) - ELL CAN DO Club members synergize to practice speaking and listening skills, share their own cultures with other students in different ways, perform services around the school, and are proactive leaders for younger E.L.L. students.
Game Club - Grades 3-5 (must be enrolled in A+) - If you’re in A+, know how to Put 1st Things 1st, and want to play fun board games after school then sign up!  You’ll also help the school by synergizing to keep the game closet in the cafeteria nice and neat.
Green and Clean Team - Grades 2-5- This group will help make our school even more beautiful by cleaning up trash and working in the garden.  Come join in for sun, soil and smiles!
Kokua Club - Grades 3-5 - These members are “Pueos with Power!!”  They will help to promote and model initiative (kokua), dependability and responsibility (kuleana) on our campus.  Some activities will include: assisting with delivery of supplies (i.e. Keiki Cupboard, Backpack Buddies.) and helping with preparations, set up and/or clean up at whole school events (i.e. Leadership Day, Hoike).
Math Club - Grades K-5 - This fun new club is an opportunity to improve math skills AND have fun.  That’s all pluses and no negatives about it!
Pueo PAL’s (Peers As Leaders) - Grades 4-5 - Members of Pueo P.A.L.s will work with same-aged and younger-aged peers to help them build more effective and positive personal skills : coping strategies (i.e. feelings identification, expression and management)  and positive interpersonal skills: (i.e. friendship skills, social skills, communication skills, anti-bullying) and help promote a sense of ‘ohana among all students (new and returning). This group is limited to eight students so apply now!
Pueo Patrol - Grades 4-5 - Pueo Patrol members will raise and lower the flag, monitor school grounds and assist at student drop-off and pick-up.   They may also help with safety reminders during recess.

Pueo Sports Managers - Grades 4-5 -Plan and organize sports and games for recess. Plan and organize intramural sports competitions between classes. Maintain sports and recess equipment.
Reader Leader Club - Grades 4-5 - If you love reading and want to inspire others to love it too, then apply to be reader leader today!  Members will have opportunities to mentor younger students and help teachers with their in class reading strategies.
Science Club -​ Students meet to work on a variety of Science experiments
Spanish Club - Grades 4-5 - These leaders will have an introduction to Spanish language as well as an opportunity to learn more about Spanish cultures from around the globe.
Student Lighthouse Team - AT Pu'u Kukui the traditional student government is called "Student Lighthouse Team".  As a 7 Habits school we encourage student leaders to be a "light" or inspiration to others.  We want ALL students to find their voice and help others find theirs...it's not about me, it's about we!

Mission Statement "As the Student Lighthouse Team, we serve our school 'ohana by providing information, activities and education on the 7 Habits in order to: make learning fun and meaningful, prevent bullying and stay balanced."
Ukulele Club - Grades 4-5 - If you’ve always wanted to learn to play the ukulele, then this is your chance, or if you’re experienced and want to share your gift that’s great too!  Ukuleles WILL be provided for use at school only.

Wonder Robotics League - Open to 5th graders after their programming and robotics PLC. Students for a team of up to 5 participants and have an opportunity to work on 5 different missions. They have a choice to take their time on the missions or they can compete. Our group this year chose to take their time on missions.

Yoga Club - Grades K-5 - Stretch, breathe and make friends in this club that will sure to help you “Sharpen the Saw”.  No yoga experience needed and all levels welcome.
